Seved is a housing area in South Sofielund (Södra innerstaden, Malmö) with about 4000 inhabitants spread out on 28 house owners. It is an old farming landscape that was turned into allotment plots in the 1950’s, when today’s housing areas utilized the land.
Since 2009 there has been a development of 30 small cultivation patches, close to the buildings, taken care of by the tenants. Some grow directly on the ground, others in pallet collars and flower patches. There are common cultivation areas as well, at Seved’s plan and other green areas in the neighbourhood. Since 2011 these areas are organized by Odla i stan. Before 2011 the organisation was done under the project Barn i stan (Children in the city) that ended in April 2011.

The Cultivation Network Seved was formed in 2010 as a part of the cultivation work within Barn i stan. Today (September 2011) 300 persons are subscribing our weekly emails about cultivation activities. A 100 of them live in Seved.
In March 2011 the Cultivation Network Seved became a non-profit organisation with inhabitants of Seved in the board. However, the network’s activities are still coordinated by the “block-gardeners” of Odla i stan.
